Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) is a non-profit weight-loss support group that encourages weight loss and maintenance through sensible eating, exercise and mutual support. TOPS takes a long-term approach to weight loss, encouraging members to make lifestyle changes that will help them take off their weight, and just as importantly, to keep off their weight in a sensible manner.

The theme was a Gathering of TOPS Treasures meaning that we are all jewels in the treasure chest of life.

The overall Best Achievers for Halton and Peel Areas were:

1st - Marie Gamble from TOPS #ON2126, Acton with a loss of 110 pounds;

2nd place went to Lynda Williams of TOPS #ON203, Brampton with a loss of 65 ¼ lbs.

Our male winners were:

Owen Gossney of TOPS #ON406, Brampton with a loss of 47 lbs;

2nd place went to Franco DeFosse of TOPS #ON5268, Mississauga with a loss of 33 ¼ lbs.

The Area Captain Walking Challenges were awarded and members of TOPS #ON2646, Burlington were the energetic winners.  Another challenge by the Area Captain to have open houses, attend health fairs and individual walks was achieved by members of TOPS #ON5293, Mississauga.  Congratulations to these enthusiastic chapters.

Our greatest treasures are our KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) with members who have kept their weight off starting from one year to 41 years.  Area Coordinator, Terry Williams is a 43 year KOPS and Area Captain, Diane Lancaster is a 35 year KOPS.

Special guest speaker was Marya Kalen, Manitoba's Queen, who recently transferred to an Oakville chapter with a loss of 83 ½ pounds who shared her success story.
