Brampton Murder Victim
"A Nice Young Man"

Brampton - A mid afternoon stabbing on Friday, September 28th that left a Brampton teenager dead, has Peel Regional Police Homicide investigators upset that a random act of violence claimed the life of an innocent and aspiring young person

Akila Badhanage, 16 years from Brampton, was on his way to his after school part time job when he was attacked by 4 – 5 black males in the area of Lord Simcoe Drive. The suspects fatally stabbed the victim and fled on foot before police arrived. The victim managed to get to the intersection of Dixie Road and Howden Boulevard before he collapsed. Inspector Norm English, Officer in Charge of the Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau had this to say "Akila was a nice young man, who has never been in trouble with the police, and was a model student" 

Peel Regional Police are still looking for 4 – 5 black males who may have been seen running from the scene.

    It shows how unsafe are our streets even during day light. More needs to be done to protect lives and property of residents. My deepest condolences to the family of this young man.

    This is so unfortunate and sad. I really feel for the poor family of this intelligent hard working young man murdered for no reason.

    It is about high time that the citizen of our great country vote for changes in the young offenders act. Perhaps you write an article and make people aware of the dangers in our city and what they can do to help change our laws.
