Brampton - A glitzy, invitation-only evening, attended by Mayor Fennell, local dignitaries and Honda Canada execs, launched the official opening of a new Honda Powerhouse at Brampton Auto Mall in Brampton on Friday evening, September 14. This sparkling facility, owned and operated by the community-involved Alizadeh family, is the anchor store of Brampton Auto Mall.

One of only 3 in Canada, Honda Powerhouse showcases all Honda products outside of their passenger vehicle fleet – including a full line of Honda motorcycles, ATVs, marine products and power equipment.

Powerhouse General Manager Marc Frantz brings with him 7 years experience in the motorcycle dealership industry, is a rider himself and has even designed and built 2 motorcycles, including one clad in copper rather than chrome which was put into production by Harley Davidson.

Frantz was raised in Brampton and is delighted to return here. "In the last 2 years, big bike stores have closed and left a huge void – I want the riding public to know they still have a place to call their own".  Franz is dedicated to all riders - "Even though we're a Honda Powerhouse, I have technicians that are certified in all brands of motorcycles because we're here for all riders – you're not lost; you have a dealership to help you".

And Franz and Honda Powerhouse have motorcycles, clothing and gear for everyone. "I've ordered a lot of clothing and gear for girls and women, including complete leathers in pink! We need always to include our female riders".

The beginning of the reception started with dark skies and heavy rain but the weather turned to a symbol of Honda Powerhouse's future when a rainbow filled the sky shortly before Mayor Fennell arrived in a motorcade of Peel Region cruisers and 10 Honda Gold Wing riders.

Honda Canada President and CEO Hiroshi Kobayashi spoke of his delight in opening this facility "I came to Canada in 2004 and wanted to raise the brand image of our motorcycles. Thank you from the bottom of my heart". He presented a commemorative plaque to owner Glen Alizadeh to mark the occasion.

Mayor Susan Fennell opened her remarks by referring to Honda Powerhouse as "the GTA's first major toy store". She continued "What a concept – to provide toys and tools! We move our calendar to celebrate with Sam Alizadeh and his family because of their continued and considerable involvement in our city".

Fennell lauded the Alizadeh's: "This is the Alizadeh's concept and it's just so smart. Start with honest work and offer service second to none".

Presenting a plaque to Sam and his family, Mayor Fennell capped her comments "We extend to you our sincere congratulations and welcome to the City of Brampton".

The evening also marked another notable happening for Classic Honda. They presented the keys of a 2008 Honda Civic DX to Wellspring Chinguacousy, a new cancer support centre serving Brampton, Caledon and area, scheduled for opening in December 2007. The vehicle will be given away through a lottery to raise funds for the Centre.
