Brampton - The Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) invites you to the annual photographic arts festival, A Month of Photography, on view at the Whitney Community Gallery from Sept. 6 to 30. A reception to mark the opening of A Month of Photography will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The PHC's A Month of Photography exhibition will display eclectic styles and techniques from established and emerging local artists. Take an adventure to remote parts of the world with Paul Teolis's award-winning photos and explore Dan Guerin's personal dreamscapes of the natural world. You can also experience Chris Blanchenot's provocative photographs and see the acclaimed works of local artist Marissa Neave. Many of these artists will be in attendance at the reception on Sept. 8 to answer questions and discuss their photographs.

"The Peel Heritage Complex is committed to discovering, developing and promoting local emerging talent in the visual arts," says David Somers, Curator of the PHC. "The purpose of this exhibition is to expand appreciation for photography as an artistic medium."

Sponsored by Nikon Canada, A Month of Photography provides local artists with the opportunity to display their work in local galleries, hospitals and restaurants across Mississauga and Brampton.

The Whitney Community Gallery, located at the PHC, is devoted to showcasing Peel artists, craftspeople and collectors. This exhibition area is an ideal forum for the many facets of Peel's cultural life and is made possible by The Whitney Group.

The PHC is operated by the Region of Peel and is located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. The Complex is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekends from noon to 4:30 p.m.; and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission fees are $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for seniors; $1 for students; and $7 for families. The PHC will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The PHC is made up of the Region of Peel Museum, the Art Gallery of Peel and the Region of Peel Archives. Together they collect, preserve and display a variety of materials related to Peel's heritage.
