Charity School Supply Drive for
Students in Developing Countries
Brampton - Brampton's ACCESS Charity has been planning a summer fundraiser, thanks to the involvement of its many youth volunteers. The organization will be hosting a School Supply Drive to collect necessary school supplies for children in developing countries, such as Honduras.
The Second Annual ACCESS Charity School Supply Drive will be held this August at St. Marguerite d'Youville Church (2490 Sandalwood Parkway E, Brampton). With the help of volunteers and the Youth Ministry, ACCESS is looking forward to a successful response. Last year's drive collected a significant amount of supplies and in addition raised over $1000.
Donations of new school supplies include all basic materials such as pencils, pens, makers, pencil crayons, sharpeners, erasers, lined paper, notebooks, scissors, rulers, and more.
The supplies will be shipped through Dr. Andrew Simone's "Canadian Food for Children" organization, which makes regular shipments to schools in Honduras.
You are invited to bring your items to St. Marguerite d'Youville Church between August 18th - September 2nd, 2007. Donations are accepted during the week, however collection tables with volunteers will be present during the three weekends (Saturdays 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm and Sundays 8:30 am – 2:00 pm).
Monetary donations will also be accepted, as the organization also funds initiatives in the Dominican Republic and Colombia. Recently ACCESS fully funded an outdoor play area for kindergarten students in Colombia, who previously had no shelter during inclement weather and during recess.
