Brampton - "Mitsubishi's Eclipse Spyder is the 3rd best selling sports car in Canada and the 2008 model has just arrived," said Robert Wallace, General Manager of Brampton Mitsubishi.

"It's a proven winner and sales from January to May have increased to 24.1 per cent over the same time last year. It's been a good increase in sales for Mitsubishi with that car."

The car comes with two options for engine power - the V4 and V6. Both have various components to them.

The GS starts at $32,298, has a four cylinder engine, 2.4 liter tank, 162 horse power, five speed gear shift with a manual transmission and four speed Supertronic option, with an automatic transmission. It also comes with two options for interior fabric material: the medium grey sport and the dark charcoal sport.

The GT-P starts at $37,298, has a six cylinder engine, 3.8 liter tank, 263 horse power, six speed manual transmission with reverse lock-out and five speed Sportronic option, with an automatic transmission. It also comes with one extra option then the V4 for interior material options: terra cotta suede, all options for the GT-P come in leather.

"It's a very easy car to drive, it's not a stressful car…it's an exceptionally smooth and sleek performer. You don't have to force the car to perform, it does it for you," said Wallace.

Both the GS and GT-P come in the following colours: Liquid Silver Metallic, Sunset Pearlescent, Satin Meisai Grey Pearl, Still Blue Pearl, Optimist Green Pearl, Rave Red Pearl, North Star White and Kalapana Black.

Wallace said the vehicle also comes with the following perks: a Sirius satellite radio with six months complimentary service, 650 watt Fosgate sound system, nine speakers, mp3 capability in-dash 6six-disk CD changer, adjustable subwoofer in the backseat, heated seats, sport wrap steering wheel, sun visors with lit vanity mirrors, remote keyless entry, a ragtop with a multi-layer cloth top, cloth inner lining and automatic tonal cover.

"It's a stylish ragtop, very refined with smooth lines and it's quite easy to put the top up and down. That's what has made it a very approachable car for people."

He said the automobile is just as popular with females as males, making it a well rounded vehicle and is hoping to see about 35 of them this year.

Wallace did say there was one important fact he wanted to put out to the public—they're not going anywhere. They now have their own funding from Japan, $8 million to play with, a plan to build a parts delivery in Canada and to have 90 Mitsubishi dealerships across the country by 2009.

"Mitsubishi is here to stay with models like the Spyder, the Lancer, and the new Outlander, three new models coming and six new (Mitsubishi) dealers just opening up this year."
