Brampton – If you want to have fun and flex your creativity muscle, then summer drama classes at the Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) are for you. The PHC, in conjunction with Do Your Thing Productions (DYT) is offering two types of drama classes every Tuesday evening from July 3 to Aug. 14. There is still time to join for a special mid-class rate.
The classes include:
The Improv Workout ─ a program for children ages 8 to 12, aimed at building self-esteem and providing a safe non-judgemental environment to voice opinions and ideas. Students will laugh the summer away in this entertaining and confidence-building class as they learn about the art of improv through various exercises and games.
The Comedy Hour ─ a comedy improvisation class for adults led by instructor and professional actor Kristine Marchese. Participants will discover how funny they can be through scenes, exercises and character work. This class is perfect for those looking to improve their listening skills, body language, and self-confidence.
The Improv Workout is held from 6 to 7 p.m. and The Comedy Hour is held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Participants can still join the summer class for a special mid-class rate of $40 for The Improv Workout and $60 for The Comedy Hour. PHC members will receive a 10 per cent discount on the cost of each class. DYT has brought improvisation and theatre workshops to local schools for the last four years. In September, the PHC and DYT will join forces again to bring a new set of workshops to schools in Peel and mark the beginning of Brampton's newest acting school, The Actors Studio
