Greenvisions, Citizens For Brampton Conservation, formed in 2007, is a non-profit citizen group. Our goal is to promote improvements and inclusion of such lands to the full potential as greenspace for public enjoyment, preserving historic, natural, and aesthetic characters of our environment. Greenvisions supports development but we believe that growth should come with a balance in order for us to accomplish the goal of being a truly sustainable City. www.greenvisions.ca The fundraising event was a great success, with over 200 concerned residents in attendance. The evening began with a brief presentation from Peter Orphanos, Chair of the Sierra Club of Canada, Peel Chapter. Peter described the need for Greenvisions, along with residents, the City of Brampton and City Council to work together toward finding solutions that will benefit all stakeholders. Later, Greenvisions Chair, Bruce Haines spoke of the need to maintain and further develop the areas in and around the Humber Valley in North East Brampton, including the lands currently occupied by the Castlemore Golf Course.
Greenvisions had extended open invitations to local elected officials at the Municipal, Provincial and Federal levels. We were very pleased that two local MP's did attend. A special thanks to the Honourable Gurbax Malhi, MP for Bramalea-Gore-Malton, and the Honourable Dr. Ruby Dhalla, MP for Brampton-Springdale. Their presence and support is appreciated. Dr. Kuldip Kular, MPP kindly sponsored a table for the event. In addition, City Councillor Vicky Dhillon, a long-time advocate of Greenvisions, came out to show his unwavering support. Also present were former Councillor Garnett Manning, and local Conservative candidate Stella Ambler. As a non-partison organization, Greenvisions looks forward to working with all levels of government, as well as individual residents who are key to the success of our mission.
