Akilesh Singh Leighl (1995), of the City of Brampton, was found to have engaged in professional misconduct for failing to respond or to provide a substantive response to Law Society communications.
By Amended Decision and Order dated May 11, 2007, the Hearing Panel ordered that:
- The Licensee is suspended for one month, commencing immediately, and continuing indefinitely until the following conditions have been met, to the satisfaction of the Director of Professional Regulation of the Law Society ("Director"):
(a) The Licensee has provided a complete response to the two complaints, and
(b) The Licensee has provided medical evidence establishing that he is able to practise law, and the Director has notified the Licensee in writing that he/she is satisfied that the Licensee is able to practise law; - The Licensee shall comply fully with the terms of the Law Society's Guidelines For Suspended, Resigned Or Disbarred Members And Members Who Have Given An Undertaking Not to Practise while suspended pursuant to this Order;
- The Licensee shall pay costs to the Law Society in the amount of $4,000.00 payable within one year of the Licensee's return to practice.
