During National Organizing Week, May 1 to May 7, organizing experts from Professional Organizers in Canada (POC) volunteered to do a Spring Spruce Up at Habitat for Humanity's Brampton Restore. The store is located at 268 Rutherford Rd. South, Unit #3.
Volunteer organizers were able to quickly whip storage areas into shape by grouping similar items together and storing items in the convenient see through containers that organizers donated for the reorganization effort.
Working side by side, organizers and ReStore volunteers were able to reorganize and categorize building material displays as well as the staff offices and stationary supply cupboard. Labeling items by categories will enable the staff to keep small pieces organized on a daily basis. The end result is that staff and customers can find what they need when they need it.
The main goal for the day was to provide hands-on help in order to free up time for ReStore volunteers to do what they do best, provide knowledgeable customer service and process incoming donations. ReStore sales help to fund the Habitat for Humanity building initiatives in the local community.
There is very little wasted space in the busy ReStore warehouse, a testimony to their environment friendly message to reuse, renew and recycle. The aisles are filled with quality new and used building materials that have been diverted from local landfills.
