"Kids are Worth it" Luncheon!
Peel - Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel in support of their Campaign for Kids at the "Kids are Worth it" Luncheon featuring guest speaker Barbara Coloroso.This elegant and informative event will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Ontario Racquet Club; 884 Southdown Road (Southdown Road and Lake Shore Blvd.)
The "Kids are Worth it" Luncheon will bring together 250 individuals for a gourmet lunch and afternoon of education and inspiration lead by guest speaker Barbara Coloroso. "We are excited to have the opportunity to have Barbara Coloroso at our luncheon.By educating parents, caregivers and those who work with children, it helps us to all work together to ensure that the children in our community grow into happy, healthy, contributing adults", states Cathy Denyer, Executive Director.
Barbara Coloroso is an internationally recognized speaker and author in the areas of parenting, teaching, school discipline, non-violent conflict and reconciliatory justice. Barbara will discuss the keys to good parenting: treating kids with respect; giving them a sense of power in their own lives; giving them opportunities to make decisions, taking responsibility for their actions and learning from their successes and mistakes -- information that is of particular relevance to parents, educators and all those who work with children.
This luncheon is part of Big Brothers Big Sisters Campaign for Kids which was launched in 2006 – an initiative to raise $500,000 by 2009.Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to announce that $163,000 has been raised to date and with the continued support of the Peel community Big Brothers Big Sisters will be able to make a positive difference in the lives of the 265 children who continue to wait to be matched with a caring adult mentor.
