BYHA to host SCTA Minor Midget Finals

Brampton Youth Hockey is Ontario's largest single community based non-profit hockey organization with a membership of approximately 4,000.  BYHA provides program beginning with our 5 year old players in our HockeySchool / Mini Trooper program which progress into our Recreational House League Hockey program which begins at the Novice Division and continue through to the Juvenile Division. BYHA also provides through our Intra-City Hockey program (Novice - Midget).  BYHA has in place "AAA", "AA", and "A" (Minor Novice - Juvenile) Representative team program as well.  BYHA through its Hockey Development Program provides clinics for the players through its Goalie School and Power Skating/Body Contract. As well, we hold clinics for our coaches and have a vast library available for all of our coaching staffs to draw upon.

Brampton, February 27, 2007 - The Brampton Youth Hockey Association will play host to the SCTA's ten Minor Midget AAA teams March 9, 10 and 11 with two spots in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Minor Midget AAA final up for grabs.  The tournament will see the ten teams divided into two groups and each team will play a pair of games on both Friday and Saturday.  The opening games of the tournament will start at 8 am on Friday, March 9 at South Fletchers and division play will continue all day Saturday at South Fletchers.  The top two teams from each group will play on Sunday at Century Gardens with games scheduled for 11 am and 1 pm.

The winners of Sunday's games will advance to the OMHA finals that will be held in Whitby from March 16 to 18.  The OMHA finals will feature the two SCTA teams, two teams from the ETA and the host Whitby Wildcats.

The Brampton Battalion Minor Midget AAA team will enter the tournament as the number one team. With two games left on their regular season schedule the Battalion sit in first place with 28 wins, 2 losses and 4 ties.  The Battalion 60 points, 13 more than second place Niagara Falls.
