The Brampton News honours members of the Brampton community who deserve recognition for their academic excellence, sportsmanship, noteworthy leadership or genuine caring and citizenship. Nominated persons will have the opportunity to appear on The Brampton News and brampton.com websites as well as in the brampton.com e-Newsletter.
Noreen O'Reilly deserves to receive the Community Star of the Week honour because for the second year she is raising money and entering The Weekend to End Breast Cancer (www.endcancer.ca). Last year she raised over $3500.00 for the cause. Her dear friend Nancy passed away in December and now Noreen is even more determined to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. She spends many hours during the week making breast cancer awareness bracelets. Each beautiful beaded bracelet has the pink ribbon symbol. She will be holding yet another huge garage sale this year to raise the money for breast cancer research. For the past three years, from the time Nancy was diagnosed, Noreen has kept her head shaved in honour of all women diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a wonderful woman who will stop at nothing to help find a cure for breast cancer.
