Michelle Kopas - resident of Brampton

Michelle lost her son in a car accident on August 5th, 2001.  Jordan was 4 years old.  Michelle was with Jordan when he died.  He was run over by a car.  The driver of the car was driving in reverse at a fast speed in a parking lot in North Bay, ON when Jordan was struck.  That very same year in November, Michelle wanted to do something to honour her son Jordan.  She started the JORDAN KOPAS FOUNDATION. She runs the foundation on her own time and from her own home with the help of her younger sister Tasha.  She has spent many hours and days calling and asking for donations to help people who would otherwise not have a very good Christmas.  It started as just being a toy drive, but has grown to add toiletries, clothing, food, and many other things.  The only thing Michelle receives from this is the fact she is helping people, all in the honour of her son Jordan.  She keeps not one cent of the money received for herself.  It's all given to the families that need it.  She has kept the foundation up and running with her own personal savings since 2001.   Every year it grows bigger; the amount received and the requests for help.  It has grown in the town of Angus, ON and the city of North Bay, ON.  In North Bay, the fire department and the police department are the foundation's major sponsors.  Michelle has had two daughters since Jordan's accident, but still has a very large hole in her heart for Jordan.
