I never needed love before
I never gave a care
It was something that I did not take
Something I would not share.

Isolation was the only way
I knew my heart would remain
In one piece for all my life
Nothing to lose nor gain.

I couldn't help the way I felt
It was something I didn't fake
But if I never gave my heart away
My heart could never break.

I still loved unconditionally
With only one condition
That unconditional love wouldn't bloom
To arouse anyone's suspicion.

And never once did I regret
The feelings that I lacked
For battered hearts do exist
And mine was still intact.

But this time it is different
Though I'm not sure it's for real
I'm too vulnerable to know
How I really, truly feel.

I already have fallen for you
There's nothing I can do
Except to listen to myself
And believe these feelings true.

So from my heart I will remove
The shield I had once built
I'll try to be optimistic
And get rid of all my guilt.

But if I give you what I value most
To me you must do the same
And together we will try our best
To play this so-called game.
