Telecare Distress Centre, a non-profit community based organization in the Region of Peel that provides free, anonymous, confidental listening and emotional support and community referrals to individuals experiencing isolation, depression, suicidal thoughts, abuse, addictions, grief, frustration or having difficulty coping in life. Name = Telecare Distress Centre

Description = Telecare Distress Centre is a non-profit organization that provides a caring and confidential telephone support service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Title = Distress/Crisis Line Volunteer

Job Description = You will be trained to serve on our telephone lines and listen to people who need emotional support.

Skills = Be a caring listener, be non-judgmental and be at least 21 years of age. Fluent in English and/or any of these other languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Mandarin or Cantonese.

Skills to Learn = Through our intensive training session you will learn active listening skills, crisis and suicide intervention, learn about mental health and sexuality

Time = one year commitment. 12 hours/month
