In addition to this, some criteria the BBOT uses to select the monthly recipient is as follows: 25 or less employees; member in good standing; long-standing member; contributions to BBOT and to the community.
brampton.com was launched in April 2003, as an online community where residents can share common experiences, share our diversity and express our hopes for the future of the city. At the same time, it provides local businesses with an opportunity to promote Brampton businesses to Brampton residents.
The brampton.com website is built around a comprehensive database of over 8,000 local businesses, allowing Brampton residents and visitors to search for the products and services they need. All Brampton businesses have a complimentary listing in their respective category, and additional advertising opportunities are available to businesses wishing to increase their exposure in the local market. Those looking for something to do in Brampton can browse over 200 events that are listed every month in the events calendar, and hundreds of classified ads are posted every month in the classified ads section, with merchandise for sale, and jobs available in the city.
In addition to the website, which received thousands of visitors every week, we also keep in touch with the residents and Brampton business community through e-mail newsletters. The brampton.com Community Connection e-newsletter is distributed bi-weekly to over 12,000 subscribers, and the Brampton Media Corp Business Bytes e-newsletter is delivered monthly to over 4,000 subscribers. Both offer advertising opportunities for local businesses.
In May 2006, the company launched The Brampton News (www.thebramptonnews.com), an online destination for news in and around Brampton. The site was designed to meet the needs of businesses and residents for more local media resources. The site has been received with huge success, and is syndicated by Google as a Brampton news source. Community, businesses, minor sports, charities and non-profit organizations participate directly by submitting their articles, photos and press releases about what is going on in the city. The site is interactive and allows readers to post comments and discuss the news articles.
Brampton Media Corp, parent company of brampton.com, TheBramptonNews.com, and other Brampton directory sites, is a full service media company, offering off-line and on-line advertising services.
