Canadian Blood Services
Canadian Blood Services is a national, not-for-profit charitable organization that manages the blood supply in all provinces and territories outside of Quebec and oversees the country's Unrelated Bone Marrow Donor Registry. A dedicated team of about 4,800 staff and 17,000 volunteers enable us to operate 40 permanent collection sites and more than 20,000 donor clinics annually. Canadian Blood Services is a non-governmental organization, however the Provincial and Territorial Ministers of Health provide operational funding, and the federal government, through Health Canada, is responsible for regulating the blood system. For more information, please call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).

Local residents are encouraged to donate blood in honour of loved ones

Canadian Blood Services reminds Brampton residents that many local clinics will be open during the holiday season and with one donation, Canadians can give a gift that saves up to three lives.

During this year's Brighten a Life campaign, donors will be able to hang a special star on a tree in honour of a loved one in clinics.Donors will also be able to send a holiday e-card to spread the message about the on-going need for donations to friends and family.

The goal this year is to collect 11, 000 units in central Ontario between December 4 and January 2 to help meet patient needs during the period. Many of these patients are counting on your donations so that they can celebrate the holiday season with their own families.

Please consider starting a new holiday tradition by donating blood and helping others in need.Call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236-6283) to book an appointment.Give a special gift to someone you need—something you can't get in a store.
