Dec. 2/06 - William Osler Health Centre Foundation has produced a website dedicated to gifts of securities. GiveStock.ca was launched in late November to address a call from the community for an easy and direct way to seek information regarding donations of stock or bonds to the Foundation's Here for you... caring for you Community Campaign.
Demand for information about donations of securities increased in response to favourable changes to federal legislation removing the capital gains tax owed on donations of publicly traded securities to registered charities. Donations of shares will carry significant tax advantages and substantially reduce the after-tax cost of giving, enabling more donors who are interested in making a gift using publicly-traded securities to become partners in the Here for you... caring for you Community Campaign.
To date, the Foundation has obtained $84 million of its $120 million Here for you... caring for you Community Campaign goal. Like all donations, gifts of securities will help the Foundation to move closer to its target. Supporting this campaign means helping to fund construction and equipment costs at Osler's new Brampton Civic Hospital set to open in the fall of 2007, funding redevelopment costs at Peel Memorial Hospital and supporting the extensive renovations planned for Etobicoke General Hospital. Further, your support will help all three sites to provide accessible, high quality care while attracting the very best physicians and specialists to the community.
