Brampton - Mya Yadanar is a family business initiated out of a love for Myanmar Arts and Culture especially Lacquerware, a time honoured traditional art of "YUN", passed down from generation to generation.

The word "Mya" means peace and tranquility and is also the Myanmar name for Emerald, the unparalleled jewel in the gem kingdom.

"Yadanar" means Treasure.

"Mya Yadanar" together signifies "Unique treasures of unparalleled beauty, portraying peace and tranquility".

Our main focus is to keep alive the art of "Yun", and also to create work for the artists and artisans in Myanmar so that they are able to work and provide for their families.

Lacquer-ware is a traditional Myanmar craft which is centuries old, dating at least as far back as the 11th century. Valued for its artistic beauty and practical qualities, it is light and watertight, and comes in a wide variety of articles. All items can be used as housewares for entertaining, beautiful home decorations, centre pieces and wedding favours, unique gifts for weddings, showers, baptisms, confirmations and birthdays.
