Election brings five new faces to Dufferin-Peel Catholic board
The eleven-member Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will have five new faces at the board table as a result of the municipal election that took place yesterday. Four of the five outgoing trustees, Ken Adamson, Peter Ferreira, Arthur Peters and Tracy Thomas did not run, thereby opening the door to a "new-look" board. The fifth, Albert Casuga, was defeated in his bid for re-election in Mississauga Wards 2,8.Adamson, Ferreira and Peters were former chairs and together, represented decades of experience around the board table.
The new trustees are: Sharon Hobin (Mississauga Wards 2,8), Thomas Thomas (Mississauga Ward 5), Luz del Rosario (Mississauga Wards 6,11),TonyDa Silva (Brampton Wards 1,3,4) and Joyce Anderson (Brampton Wards 7-10).
The remaining six Dufferin-Peel trustee incumbents were all returned to office for four-year terms. Two of the returning trustees, Esther O'Toole (Mississauga Wards 9,10) and Frank Di Cosola (Caledon/Dufferin), were acclaimed, while the other four: Mario Pascucci (Mississauga Wards 1,3), Anna Abbruscato (Mississauga Ward 4), Bruno Iannicca (Mississauga Ward 7) and Linda Zanella (Brampton Wards 2,5,6) prevailed over challengers. The new board will consist of:

"While this board takes office during a difficult and challenging time in our history, staff looks forward to working collaboratively in a spirit of continuing this great tradition."
Trustees will take office at the new board's inaugural meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on December 5, 2006, at the Catholic Education Centre, 40 Matheson Boulevard West, Mississauga. The inaugural meeting is preceded by a Mass in the CEC Chapel at 6:00 p.m.
